Terms & Conditions - 20 Free ETF Trades

New Account Opening:

To qualify, you must open a new BMO InvestorLine account (“Qualifying Account”) with a minimum of $50,000 CDN AND enter the promotion code TRADE20 into the Online Account Application (OLAP) at the time of application.  The assets to this account must be net new assets to BMO InvestorLine. You must also maintain a minimum balance of $50,000 CDN (based on the calculation of all withdrawals and deposits) in your qualifying account within 6 months of opening and funding this account. If the account balance falls below $50,000 CDN at the end of the six month period, you will be charged back the cost of the  ETF trades.

 

Maximum one offer, per client - regardless of the number of accounts that are opened and/or funded.

Existing Accounts: If you are an existing client of BMO InvestorLine, the  above conditions apply.

You can also qualify by transferring or depositing a minimum of $50 000 CDN into your existing BMO InvestorLine account (“Qualifying Account”)or open a new account with $50,000. YOU MUST opt in to the promotion using the Opt in page using your existing account.
To access the sign up page:

  1. Sign into your account
  2. Visit the ETF Centre and click on the promotional banner. 
  3. On the promotional page click on “Sign up with my existing account”  and select the account you want to use for this promotion

Free Trade Period
Your 60 day free trade period begins one business day after you either a) enter the Promotion code TRADE20 into the Online Account Application OR  b) sign up for the promotion using the Opt in page (for existing clients). You MUST enter this promotion code to qualify for the promotion.  If you do not enter the promotion code, you will not receive 20 free ETF trades. The free trades are only eligible on your Qualifying Account.  Trades cannot be applied on any other account. The only ETF trades eligible for the promotion are those placed online or by phone.

Free trade credits
You will receive a credit for your qualifying ETFs up to a maximum of 20 ETF trades within 30 days after your free trade period ends.

Ineligible accounts
Locked In accounts, Tax Free Savings Account (TFSA), , BMO Employee Share Ownership Plan (ESOP) or BMO ESOP transfers, Personal Holding Company, Discretionary, Investment Club/Partnership, Estate, Association, Prospect, and Pledge Accounts.

 

Note:
Within the 6 month promotional period of your account opening date, or the date you opted in, your BMO InvestorLine account must be in good standing. Your account must not be in the debit position. Your account should not have any margin calls. No outstanding documentation or any other outstanding items should be pending on your account.

John Smith opens one (1) new RIF or one (1) new Locked In account and transfers $50,000+ and the funds remain in the account for a minimum of 6 months

Locked In accounts are not eligible for the free 20 ETF Trade offer .  Trades cannot be applied on any other account

John Smith opens three (3) new Non-Registered accounts and deposits $50,000+ in each account and funds remain in the account for a minimum of 6 months

60 days free 20 ETF trades for one (1) account
* Maximum one (1) offer per client.

John Smith opens one (1) new Non-Registered account and deposits $50,000+ and the funds remain in the account 6 months +. John Smith also opens a joint non-registered account with his spouse and deposits $50,000+ in the account.

60 days free 20 ETF trades for that one (1) account
* Maximum one (1) offer per client.

John Smith opens one (1) new Non-Registered account and deposits $50,000+ and the funds remain in the account for a minimum of 6 months
His wife, Sally Smith also opens one (1) new Non-Registered account and deposits $100,000+ and the funds remain in the account for a minimum of 6 months

John Smith opens one (1) new Non-Registered account and deposits $50,000+ and transfers out $20,000 before the 6 month mark and does not replenish the account with funds.

Client will not receive credit for the trades made during the period

John Smith opens one (1) new Non-Registered account and deposits $50,000+ and the funds remain in the account for a minimum of 6 months
John Smith also opens a (1) new  Non-Registered joint account with his wife Sally Smith and deposits $50,000+ and the funds remain in the account for a minimum of 6 months

* Maximum one (1) offer per account per client.


This offer cannot be combined with any other BMO InvestorLine promotional offer.
BMO InvestorLine may cancel, revise or change the end date of this offer at any time.
